Recognizing the original template
The classic template shows Laina Morris facing the camera with wide-open eyes and a fixed smile. The most familiar versions place bold uppercase white text, outlined in black, above and below the face.
The historical image and its context are available at the original sources below. A picture appearing on a meme site does not mean this site owns it or can grant permission to redistribute it.
A practical two-line layout
Keep the eyes and smile unobstructed: they do much of the storytelling. Place the setup in the upper part of the frame and the payoff at the bottom, leaving a clear face between them.
Start with one ordinary moment
Pick a text message, a shared hobby or a familiar chat situation. The setup should be understandable without a backstory.
Add one exaggerated response
Use a harmless overreaction rather than several unrelated jokes. The bottom line should change how the reader interprets the top line.
Check it at phone size
Use a heavy, readable font with an outline. Shorten the copy until the face remains visible and the joke is readable without zooming.
An original layout example
TOP: “You said you needed space.” BOTTOM: “I made us a shared calendar for it.”
This is original example copy written for this guide. Try changing the situation rather than simply replacing the word “space” in every joke.
Static image or reaction video?
For a classic static meme, add your chosen caption to an image you have permission to use in an image editor. This page is a layout guide, not a downloadable pack of the original photograph.
For a personal talking reaction, upload your own adult portrait and enter up to 20 English words on our homepage. It produces an 8-second MP4 with a generated voice and lip sync. It does not export a static meme or include the original song.
